I already have a leather laptop style bag but this is perched over one shoulder and needs constant re-positioning to keep it in place so that one arm is always tied up.
This bag is not leather but a synthetic material. It seems hard wearing and heavy rain in New York and Boston as well as a young woman approaching behind me while in a queue for a ferry with a large drippy ice cream left me quite relaxed. The blue facing material and the woven backing looks smart, keeps contents safe and seems hard wearing. The rucksack style means that varied payloads can be carried such as coats and sunglasses and water for when the sun did come out and even on our pastry tour round Boston - all were handled without a problem. One’s hands are always free. The rear compartment is ideal for my iPad and also, for those with such things, a small laptop.
Please note the larger backpack is better value and also comes with free delivery but as I am not tall, I reasoned that the smaller one would offer adequate capacity and not be rubbing on the back of my knees! This proved to be a perfect choice.
The front flap has magnetic fasteners similar to a lady’s Enni bag and there is also the option of a front strap and clasp so that the whole thing is secure. The latter is of most use when your bag is really full and the former when it is moderately so.
There is also a small zipped compartment on the inner surface of the back pack and this is especially useful for things like wallets and money/passports and such that you wouldn’t want to have stolen or lose. The clip to the zip easily gets stuck and I am worried about its longevity but time will tell. Similarly with the front clip which is robust enough but tends to stick at an awkward angle - hopefully this will ease with time.
All in all I was most impressed by my new bag and it has made for a more comfortable and useful travelling companion than my shoulder laptop case.
